Breakout Session 1 - Structural Changes in Higher Education and the Impact on Student and Faculty Activism
Student loan debt, the corporate funding of higher education, and the growth of a precarious faculty, amongst many other changes in higher education, all have major impacts on student activism and engagement. In this session, participants will be given tools to uncover what is happening in higher education and what is being done to address these problems at universities across the nation. Participants will leave this session with a better knowledge of the ways activism on college campuses is linked to these structural changes and how they can use their leadership skills to be more engaged citizens and activists within their university communities.
